How to get ready?

How to get ready...

...FOR YOUR BOUDOIR SHOOT WHEN YOU’RE MENSTRUATING

ou’ve booked your boudoir session, you’ve picked out your looks, you’re feeling like the best version of yourself. But the day before your session you wake up with your period. Queue the panic of what to do.

Trust me, you’re not the first person to ever get their period the day before (or even on the day of) a boudoir session. We get the question of “What do I do?” more often than not and I’m here to let you know you can still enjoy your boudoir session, even when you’re menstruating.
If you’re going to be on your period during your scheduled boudoir session, here are some tips to make sure you’re prepared.

Rely on Menstruation Product

When it comes to your period and your boudoir session, I highly recommend wearing a tampon for your session since you can tuck the string up into your outfit (don’t worry about strings showing in your photos – I edit those out!). But, if tampons don’t work for you, there are so many other amazing products you can utilize! A few of our favorites include reusable menstrual cups and period panties. Knix, Joyja, and Thinx are all great brands for period underwear that you can work into your looks!

Stay Hydrated and Remember to Stretch

If you tend to get cramps or feel bloated when you get your period (I’m with you!), drink a lot of water so you can stay hydrated and stretch regularly. Both will help you feel better and help eliminate bloat.Period relief medication like Midol is also a great way to help you feel better! Remember, you’ll be holding some uncomfortable poses, so if you cramp easily, take pain meds ahead of time to alleviate worse cramps during your session.

Remember, The Session is All About You

While having your period during your boudoir session might not be the ideal situation, I promise it won’t affect your photos! I’ll make sure to pose you and use lighting that’ll make you look and feel great. And when you get your photos back, you won’t even realize you had your period in your images because you’ll look THAT good!

What do other women say about their Boudoir Sessions?

With my love for boudoir, I could go on for hours about why every woman should book a session. The best part is you don’t have to just take my word for it. Check out some of these amazing testimonials and live videos from clients who’ve had the experience!

Boudoir style photography was something I've always wanted to do and I finally acted upon that wish and booked in a session. It started with a phone call to Alessio who was just so friendly, guinuine and answered all my questions. Next came all the informative and helpful guides leading up to the big day. I felt prepared on the day and the photoshoot itself was so much fun! Alessio was professional but friendly and made me feel completely comfortable. I recently picked up my album and was blown away by the quality and the photographs themselves. I couldn't be happier with the result!

Meg Rao "A Photoshoot with Alessio is just an amazing experience!"

Alessio was a complete professional the entire time in the warmest, kindest and most respectful way possible. We had fun, we laughed a lot and I felt relaxed and happy as a result. I felt beautiful during the shoot and the photos were absolutely stunning. I love them and I am so proud of them. I could not recommend this experience more, it was so good and I can't wait to do it again!

Stefanie Carne "Being photographed by Alessio from Le Chat Noir Boudoir was one of the best experiences in my life!"
